It is official. Eric Tinkler has walked the plank, and Muhsin Ertugral has boarded the ship. The Ghosts have a new captain to steer them off of rocky shores. This will largely be viewed as a victory for the supporters as there have been endless calls for the chairman to take action following a barren season for Orlando Pirates. The Happy People wear a smile today.
Pirates' supporters have been concerned for some time now. The Soweto giant has walked away from the season empty-handed, despite featuring in two cup finals. The supporters have been asking the ever-powerful Irvin Khoza to fix the situation, and it seems he has started putting his plans into action.
"Thanks Dr Khoza. Now let's be patient and wait for success." – Odwa17
"Well done Mr Iron Duke." – Nelson TT
"Finally Pitso will have competition now." – radZuma
"Congratulations for being one of the coaches to lead the biggest brand in Africa." – Mbixane
While most supporters welcomed this news as a necessary change and many were heartbroken by the season Tinkler delivered them, many still still had words of thanks for the outgoing coach for the service he has given South African football over his life and his noble efforts in his first ever head coaching job, at Pirates no less. He can only grow from here.
"Welcome to the Ghost Family, Muhsin Ertugral. Tinkler remains our hero, we still trust and support him." – Daniel Madenza Kutumela
What is your message to Dr Khoza? Do you think this means Pirates will be a dangerous team next season?
