Welcome Aboard The Pirates Ship, Ertugral!

A sigh of relief could be heard from miles away as Orlando Pirates fans' cries had finally been acknowledged by the Iron Duke. The news of the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral came as a huge shock as there had been no prior suggestion that the Turk could be going to Mayfair; rather, it was looking like a move to Cape Town for the former Mpumalanga Black Aces head coach. So, let's welcome Mr Ertugral as he steps into the deep end at Pirates.

The experienced coach is no stranger to South African football. His first appointment in Mzansi was at Naturena, where he mentored Chiefs between 1999 and 2003. After coaching Santos for the 2003 campaign, he spent time with a few other clubs locally and abroad, including the likes of Ajax Cape Town, Chiefs again, Golden Arrows, and Mpumalanga Black Aces.

There is no doubt that he is one of the best coaches to have reached South African shores, which is why Buccaneers fans are happy to see him taking charge, especially after the love-hate relationship they developed with Eric Tinkler. Here are some of their reactions:

"I can't wait for the season to begin. Nice decision, Muhsin E." – master_thobias

"Muhsin Ertugral has a point to prove. A right man to lead a team of Pirates FC calibre, a gentleman in his right and a good acquisition for Pirates. Let the games begin." – blackmail

"Young players will get a chance. He's got an eye for talent. I don't know why he runs away easily from teams. I wish to see him in one team for a full three years." – khuksgumede

While some of the Bucs faithful are eager to see what Muhsin will bring to the team, others are somewhat disappointed as they had other coaches in mind, and also think that Ertugral's record with league titles (he's never won the league despite claiming plenty of other silverware) is damning.

"I was expecting Benni." – Excellent Hlulani

"No more league titles at Orlando Pirates again! The coach doesn't have league title records." – Kwaitor

Let us sit back and watch what unfolds at Mayfair come the 2016/17 campaign!

Do you think Ertugral is the right man for Pirates? Also, do you think he should bring the likes of Benni McCarthy into his technical team?
