This week we are trying something different in Supporters Club, we are selecting the Get Published writer of the week and asking him three important questions about South African football to get their opinion. This week we chat to Matome_Kay. The question is: What do you think about Coach Shakes Mashaba's Selection Policy?
Well, it's actually great that Shakes Mashaba is building his team around young players, but leaving out seasoned ones completely isn't a wise decision for me. He should instead balance experience with new talent. He also tends to make wholesale changes whenever he selects a team, which I believe shows inconsistency.
There needs to be consistency and continuation, but with him it's always like the beginning. Continuity breeds success. He should be having a foundation to build from by now, but I doubt he has as he hasn't assembled a team to work with going forward.
We have seen him calling over hundreds of players since taking over from Gordon Igesund, which gives me an impression that he's still trying to scratch the surface. We still have no idea of his goal and vision based on his selection policy.
