Platinum Stars will also be big winners if Mamelodi Sundowns end up winning the CAF Champions League. Dikwena finished third in the PSL last season, which means they will participate in next season's CAF CL as the third South African representative if Downs emerge victorious. Supporters Club sat with Stars superfan Itumeleng Thakabu to find out how the Dikwena faithful feel about the possibility of playing continental football next season.
Beaver Nazo: Hi Itu, how are you doing?
Itu Thakabu: Very well, Beaver, no complaints.
BN: Dikwena will play in next season's CAF Champions League if Sundowns end up winning the tournament on Sunday. How do you feel about that possibility?
IT: Let me first start by congratulating Sundowns for doing South Africa proud. We are very excited and we are learning a lot from Sundowns. Maybe we will do well in Africa after learning from them.
BN: Dikwena are sitting 10th on the log after five games. Does that worry you?
IT: It is just the beginning Beaver, we are still in the beginning phase.
BN: Last season, Dikwena finished third in the standings. Do you think they can emulate that this season, or even better that?
IT: I believe we can do better than last season because we still have the same coach and 90% of the players we had, plus the new ones.
BN: You lost your talisman, Eleazar Rodgers, to Bidvest Wits. How did that affect the team?
IT: We have some good players from Namibia and from other PSL teams. Rodgers is in a class of his own, though. Yhoo, that guy knows how to score goals. We wish him well at Wits.
BN: Itu, thank you for talking to us, and all the best for the season.
IT: Thanks, Beaver!
Do you think Dikwena will do well in Africa if they qualify courtesy of a Downs triumph?
