“Maimane Phiri games are always packed because people enjoy the South African style of football. Imagine spending money to go watch a PSL goalless draw and do not get entertained with skills. Pitso must leave Makaringe alone.”
These were the views of Twitter user @MadVee_98 who shared his thoughts on the Makaringe saga after Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane condemned his showboating in a match, which Pirates won 1-0.

His sentiments are shared by @isaacaphane68 who feels that ‘kasi flavor’ is a part of our South African culture that we should embrace and be proud of.
“I hope Molefi saw Makaringe, hahaha we must be proud of our South African culture. We can't run away from being an African and Brazilians they do those ‘tsamayas’ nobody complains. Pitso must know that Pirates is not Sundowns.”
On the contrary, there are fans like @Madumetja_SoLo who agree with Mosimane that showboating in the wrong areas of the field could be a costly exercise as seen with former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabo Rakhale.
“Thabo Rakhale used to showboat and do unnecessary skills like Makaringe in the wrong areas. He cost Orlando Pirates a trophy in the final against SuperSport United FC whilst trying to trap a ball with a "style". They went on to score. Where is he today? Downgraded to Chippa United FC.”
