Just when things looked as if they were getting better for Orlando Pirates, they were hit by a poor result on Wednesday night as Chippa United deservedly walked away winners after a 2-0 victory over the Buccaneers. What happened to the glimmers of promise shown by the Sea Robbers?
"Eish!" was how Pirates supporter Lindisipho Xubuzana answered the phone when Supporters Club phoned him, and that pretty much summed it all up, but we asked him what he thought went wrong anyway.
"Pirates' style is the problem," he said.
"When other teams see you start to perform, then they read you right and don't give you a chance to play.
"The other teams now know that we depend on Tendai Ndoro."
Xubuzana believes a change in strategy was necessary.
"When we played Sundowns, our game plan was to target 'CBD'. That won't work anymore," he added.
"It's like yesterday and tomorrow; it's the same style, why Eric?
"Ndoro is a lonely man up front, the other teams have now made him weak."
Xubuzana is getting ready to watch his team in action in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, and predicts that Pirates will be in the final – he is even organising two Quantums to go from Cape Town to the host city and back to watch the decider.
What do you think of Pirates' style in recent games? What should they do to improve their form again?
