It seemed as if the Mamelodi Sundowns train was never to be stopped this season. It crushed and pounded all in sight. That was until the most unlikely of stones derailed the moving giant. Bloemfontein Celtic netting three goals against them to pull off possibly the upset of the season… Could this spell trouble for Chloorkop?
Not so, according to devout Sundowns fan Stateman Mbizeni.
"I still think that this is our title to lose," he said.
"We have a four-point lead and Wits still have to play us. So this thing is still in our hands."
It seemed as if, just over a week ago, all in Mzansi were assured in the knowledge that Sundowns were going to be this year's undisputed league champions. Another thing South Africans thought was set in stone was the fact that Celtic were a side in trouble; not too threatening to the opposition, only themselves.
"We lost against a Bloemfontein Celtic team that's in a very bad condition," Mbizeni added.
Could this be the turning of the tides? Is Phunya Sele Sele on the right track?
Furthermore, is there still a possibility of a major slip-up from the Brazilians? Will they need to put the cork back in the champagne bottle?
Football is an unpredictable beast. The result against Siwelele proved that. The good news is that this makes for an exciting finish for us, the supporters. All we have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride.
Do you think Sundowns could drop the ball at the last minute? Could last week's loss be the turn in momentum that changes the outcome of this league?
