If you bought this week's edition of Soccer Laduma in stores today and opened to the fixtures list in the middle, you may have noticed something different. Instead of both league Soweto Derbies being played at FNB Stadium next season, one will be hosted in the Pirate Ship.
Supporters Club caught up with Buccaneers supporter Vukani Madonsela for his thoughts on the fixture's move to the stadium, and the security concerns around playing in a smaller arena.
Here are his thoughts:
On the derby that's going be played at Orlando Stadium
"We, as Orlando Pirates supporters, are very happy that the team will play its game at our own turf. You must remember that, unlike other teams, Pirates have their own stadium, and that is Orlando Stadium. Isigodi sika Mabinzela."
On the safety of supporters and the size of Orlando Stadium
"The only thing that we can do to avoid what happened at Ellis Park is for us supporters to buy tickets early, and arrive early at the stadium. If we can master that, then everything will be OK, there will be no danger at all!"
On how he thinks Pirates will fare this season
"Pirates will have a very good season this season. We have a very good coach in Muhsin Ertugral and he is familiar with SA football. You'll remember he coached Chiefs twice and Ajax twice, so he won't take long to settle down."
Are you concerned about security measures for the game being played at Orlando? What are the pros and cons of the fixture move?
