There is massive speculation flying around at the moment, particularly regarding one of the country’s top star players – Sibusiso Vilakazi. The strongest link has connected him with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, and reportedly for a handsome fee, but where does this price tag come from? One supporter gives us an opinion to work with.
Many supporters have questioned the price tag that circles around Sibusiso Vilakazi, which was reported to be around the value of R10 Million. This has, understandably, been met with criticism as Vilakazi spent much of the season out injured. One of our supporters, Dr. Baloyi, has given us an opinion on where this price tag may come from.
“He (Vilakazi) is a very useful player but I think his price tag is influenced by two things: 1.The coverage that Media gives him creates a hype which at times is to his detriment, and 2. Wits are simply not willing to sell and use the "unreasonable price tag" as a defence mechanism. All in all Villa will have to make his mind up, as age is not on his side. He can either take advantage of the hype created on him now and improve his salary by moving to a bigger club, or go overseas, or he can risk seeing his price tag reducing by sticking with Wits. Look, besides personal accolades what has he won with Wits? Chances are, he might have to end his career without any major club achievement if he stays put at Wits. A player priced at R 10 m should have at least won the championship... “
