The bells of familiarity are ringing as it was recently revealed that Steven Pienaar will not have his contract with Everton renewed. On top of this, he has stated that he is an Orlando Pirates fan. Many people will be hoping that, just like the great Benni McCarthy, the midfielder will make his homecoming, if there is one, a black and white occasion. There are those, however, who think Pienaar is no Benni and will not give as much service.
One of our online supporters, Zothani_Linda, has made an effort to explain how Benni McCarthy and Steven Pienaar are not the same beast, and warned the Buccaneer faithful against thinking that Schillo will be the answer to their problems.
"No, no, no! There are two differences between Benni and Schillo. Benni had a fitness problem, Schillo has an injury problem. Secondly, Benni is a Champions League winner, and Schillo is not! Benni is the best ever South African international. Schillo is a good international export, but investing in him would not be wise. The best we can offer Pienaar is a midfield place."
In fact, it seems many supporters do not think Pienaar is as solid an investment as his name suggests. Many have suggested that Pirates are already blessed in the midfield department, whereas, at the time of Benni's arrival, strikers were in hot demand at Mayfair.
Would Schillo be a good addition for Pirates? Or any team? Or is he just a big name?
