Highlands Park are back and stronger than ever. It has been 34 years since a team named Highlands Park played in the top flight of South African football. The original side was described as the "Manchester United" of South African football, before it was sold to Jomo Sono for R100 000 and renamed Jomo Cosmos. Now the Lions of the North are back, and they mean business.
The team, which has based itself in Tembisa and amassed a vibrant support base, recently announced a number of signings for next season. Included among the newcomers were Collins "Ntofontofo" Mbesuma and Charlton Mashumba.
Most supporters are expecting big things from the Lions of the North next season, but also recognise that the newcomers face a tough task.
