Amajita coach Thabo Senong recently came out in defence of the country's development structures, stating that he was optimistic about the future of South Africa's football. Many supporters were quick to shut this down…
Many believe it would be foolish to be optimistic about the development structures in the country, with the lack of talented youngsters being produced being a clear indication that the structures are flawed.
However, one of our supporters, Ant_55, has come out in defence of this claim, and stated that sometimes supporters need to be reminded that Bafana Bafana itself is still in development, and that the future is promising.
"A great achievement indeed. Looking at the past 10-15 years, our development structures have really taken form. Even more encouraging is seeing the promotion of these players to the national team. Supporters have to be reminded, unfortunately, that Bafana Bafana is essentially still only 20 years old, competing with national teams that are 100+ years old. So, looking at the strides and some achievements and structures in place, I must say I'm impressed. The next 20 years looks bright indeed."
