Supporters Feel Highlands Were Unfair To Freese

And so it has begun. The first head coach to be scalped this season was revealed on Tuesday. Only five games in and Highlands Park have decided to reshuffle Allan Freese away from the driving seat to make room for experienced tactician Gordon Igesund. Our supporters discuss the matter.

Many have given the move a thumbs down. Not because of the appointment of Igesund, but rather the trigger-happy firing of coach Freese following his efforts in helping the team get promoted. Many, however, still see good fortunes ahead for Igesund and the Lions of the North.

"This is going to kill the momentum of the club. Club bosses are not fair sometimes. How could they do things like that, especially to a coach of Freese's calibre?" – Elmon 24

"That means they doubt their abilities. Freese has been doing a great job there... it wasn't necessary for them to shift Freese as a head coach." – Mabotsa_Shabza_Khosi

"He go them promoted, now they throw him away." – ilumadi

"There we go, SA soccer. Firstly, they brought players for the coach, fired the players who made them qualify for PSL, and now they have hired someone who's obsessed with old players. What next? Relegation and they will remember the youth and players from Tembisa? That's why our soccer is way behind." – kwaa

"Shame Highlands Park. If he loses three matches as well, who's next, Jacob Zuma? Chopping and changing coaches after every five games will send you straight back to the NFD." – Bucs-10

"Here we go again, another Chippa Mpengesi mentality at the helm of Highlands Park." – hasanimersh

"Yes, I know Mr Igesund has more experience than Freese, but I feel that they were not fair to him because he was still trying to find his feet in the PSL so it was going to take time. Mr Freese is one of those growing SA coaches who, if given enough time, will take our football to a higher level. For now, I'll take this time and say congratulations to Mr Igesund. I wish him all the best of luck in his new job." – Xego S.M-eCofimvaba

Does this move increase or decrease Highland's chances of staying in the PSL?
