FootballDatabase recently released a list the highest ranked football clubs in Africa, and Mamelodi Sundowns currently sit at the top.
Many supporters have taken the opportunity to congratulate Downs on this achievement.
"This is what we would like to see in our PSL league, but we all know that the challenge awaits KBY. Anyway, I still believe in them, they will make it and come back with a star. Guys, success is in your team so put out more effort in every game you play against your opponents and I wish you all the best." – Maer2
"We, Chiefs supporters, are happy for Sundowns and are not bitter about anything. And we agree with you that, in this new era, Sundowns dominate the PSL in terms of league titles. We also acknowledge that Sundowns deservedly sit in pole position in club ranking of the continent." – Gizzaretti_legendary
"That's an achievement for a massive South African team. Keep the Mzansi flag high." – mophalane
While this accolade has got many supporters talking and comparing, many have begun talking of the differences between the Soweto giants and Downs, and one supporter thinks this shows particularly in the Atteridgeville derby vs the Soweto Derby.
"The Pretoria derby doesn't have to be full in order to entertain football lovers. That's the thing with the Soweto derby, it is all about fans. You would swear we will watch interesting football when a fixture between Chiefs and Pirates is announced. The Soweto derby is made special and interesting only on media, taxi ranks, street corners, etc. Gone are the days of Brian 'Spider Man' Baloyi and Jerry 'Legs of Thunder' Sikhosana, who both made it interesting. Excellent Walaza (with Khune) tried but he was a kid. All in all, the game between the two is boring and highly overrated, but produces dull football that even Chippa vs Baroka cannot display." – Propaganda
