The Kabo Yellow faithful flocked to the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday, donning their regalia to witness the encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns and Egyptian side Zamalek.
Sundowns ensured that their fans were well taken care of ahead of the match and gave discounts to all their loyal supporters for the CAF final. With 50% discounts for all those wearing Downs attire, many of the local fans have raised the question as to why this does not take place with all of our local teams?
"Just imagine giving your fans 50% discount to watch CAF Champions League finals. What's stopping Pirates from doing the same when playing against Polokwane City for a mere three points? Why can't Chiefs do the same for their fans when playing against smaller teams with less fans? I think the stadiums will never be empty again if team colours counts when you buy tickets." – Zax5-Bucs
There would be many factors to take into consideration if it had to come to a situation where teams felt this would be a great idea. Will this solve our problems of empty stadiums? Or will it cause many other problems, including that of less money being generated?
Do you think it would be feasible for our local teams to give fans discounts?
