Bafana Bafana played to a 1-1 stalemate against Ghana in hurricane Moses Mabhida last night. The result is a respectable one given the giant status of Ghana on the continent, but the supporters do not seemed convinced with the result as it is seen as below par for a team trying to make it to the World Cup.
"It was worst to watch the first half. I don't know what is really wrong with our players, they don't show any hunger if they want to play for their country." – LeCowhlohlo
"A recent article claimed that Ghana players are not performing well because of TOO MUCH SEX. Now I wonder if our beloved BAFANA also have the same addiction if they draw with Ghana." – etsekang
"Wonder why our country never performs well in football." – Sanele@mvelase
"Something was missing, that pace of Twala could've change things." – deadly trio msn
There are others who think that we are perhaps too harsh in our assessment of the national team, though.
"The result was not bad. SA supporters have always got something to say. If they won, you were going to say: 'They only win friendlies'. It's really hard to coach a national team. To be honest, I feel sorry for Shakes because every result he gets, everyone has got something to say. Even mere mortals who can't get their life together, they've got something to say. Don't criticise what you cannot do better yourself..." – mahoota_Cr7
It is tough not to be overly critical when discussing something you hold so dear to your heart, such as the national team. One silver lining to note is that at least it was not an embarrassment, like it was the last time one of our national teams (not soccer) played in Durban (57-15 was the result)...
