Siwelele: If We Could, We Would Take Larsen Back

A strange turn of events has transpired, kind of like a lunar eclipse. Bloemfontein Celtic versus Golden Arrows, but with a bite. Were this last season, each coach would be standing on the opposite side of the dugout. It can be likened to going on a double date with your ex and your ex's new lover… Who really wins?

Some floor crossing occurred in December last year when Serame Letsoaka left Golden Arrows for Bloem Celtic, and Clint Larsen left Celtic for Arrows.

Phunya Sele Sele will take on Abafana Bes'thende this weekend, and it is a vital match for both teams as they have both been struggling under new management and need the points. They need to win.

Celtic is in a process of rebuilding. The team has had a fairly disastrous spell, starting from Clint Larsen leaving the club for Arrows (along with key player Gabadinho Mhango), to the management controversy and uncertainties about who was really in charge of the club.

Now they face a familiar beast. A father turned enemy. So how do the supporters feel about this? We caught up with Bloem Celtic ever-faithful Mamello Makha to find out.

"We are positive we are going to win this weekend. We know Larsen, we know his tactics and so do the players," she said.

This sounded like Bloemfontein was ready for war, but when asked if Celtic misses Larsen, there was a change in tune.

"We are not happy that Larsen left us. He was the best coach Celtic have ever had, he was the only one who understands us," she added.

And when asked if she would swap Serame Letsoaka for Clint Larsen, she was unequivocal in her response.

"Yes, we would love to have him back."

Who do you think will win this weekend? Will the dynamics of the game change at all by having two former coaches pitted against their former teams?
