'Serero Is Like Our Neymar, Why Bench Him?' – Fan's Comment

Bafana Bafana welcome Senegal tomorrow evening for their must-win clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Preparations ahead of this encounter have commenced and supporters remain cautiously optimistic about SA’s qualification chances for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, despite the absence of some key players.

Among the absentees is midfielder Thulani Serero who failed to honour his national call-up by coach Stuart Baxter, demanding assurance of being in the starting XI should he show up.

The Vitesse Arnhem midfielder's demands sparked an unending debate among faithful football followers, with some fans siding with the Soweto-born player, saying benching the 2010/11 PSL Player of the Season is not fair and comparing him to Paris Saint-Germain and Brazilian star Neymar Jr.

Check out some of the comments from our members:

"Baxter benched Serero in all the games we played so far. Because of your favouritism, now you paying the price, coach. Serero is like our Neymar, now why would you put him on the bench?" – lujas

"Good luck boys, we are behind you." – Soldier4Khosi

"If Bafana win the first game, then the Lions will be in trouble in Dakar with the return of Zungu and Jali." – YaKhosi

"We don't care about them being uncomfortable, we only care about winning and nothing more, nothing less." – musah005

"Coach should use Mzansi style to make them unsettled. Kasi flair is the key to confusing North or West African teams, and once you apply the tactic you used against Nigeria, we will confuse them and get that three points." – Myaka weliPhefeni

Would you classify Serero at the same level as Neymar?
