Reader’s Voice: It’s Clear To See Rhulani’s Ship Is Sinking

“I’m one of the fans that had asked for patience with Rhulani, but it plain to see this ship is sinking, He was held in high esteem and at some point we felt he was running the show when Micho was there...but he has since been left exposed.”

The views of SL Supporter @ habang-lekalakala0 is widely felt among a faction of Orlando Pirates fans, this after they saw their side suffer a demoralizing 1-0 defeat at the hands of PSL newcomers Stellenbosch FC on Saturday.

The loss was Pirates’ third of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership leaving them in 10th position on the log after they only picked up nine points from a possible 24.

This run of dismal results have left fans like SL Supporter @ mvelase07senzo running out of patience with head coach Rhulani Mokwena,

“Rhulani always thought he was smart than our coach Micho and also at Sundowns now he has been given the opportunity and he has failed. I don't why does he not resign and leave our Pirates alone. I wonder why we dont hire Gavin Hunt or bring back Kroll.”

To make things worse, Pirates face a tricky trip to Tembisa on Tuesday, where they will take on a stubborn Highlands Park team. They also have the small matter of facing an in-from Kaizer Chiefs side on the weekend fresh from putting defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns to the sword.

SL Supporter @Vharazipi feels he has summarized the Soweto giants’ problems.

“The biggest problem with Orlando pirates is bringing more and more players every season and that thing is not the best a club can do. We lost many players without explanation from management. Erasmus was one player we lost by mistake. Look at our defense. I don't know what is the really problem with Chabalala not to get game time like others.”

Meanwhile SL Supporter @Amaweletwins feels that perhaps Mokwena should step back into the shadows and allow former Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids to take the reins at the club.

“Pirates has no coach, remove this Rhulani from first team and deploy him to the reserve team if you want him to learn. Fadlu can do much better than this Mokwena, If you can't, you know we can do that. Where is Memela, Dube why Maile is not playing?”

Having seen Pirates’ recent run of form, do you think they need to keep Mokwena at the helm or is it time to look for a replacement?
