'Pirates Players Have The Right To Strike/Protest.'

What a time to be an Orlando Pirates player, coach, ex-coach, or supporter. Following a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of SuperSport United and the subsequent resignation of coach Muhsin Ertugral, the supporters have been debating the future of the club.

There are murmurings going around that the horrific 6-1 loss was the result of the Orlando Pirates players throwing the game following unhappiness experienced at Coach Ertugral’s tactics. Some supporters think this is unacceptable.

“If was their (players) strategy to sabotage the coach he didn't deserved it there always professional ways of doing things, if they were not happy about him shouting to them they should have engaged with him about their unsatisfactory, it's his style he succeeded with Aces very well last season.” – Peace Ntshangase

This view was shared by Soccer Laduma editor Vuyani Joni in his editors column this week. One of our online supporters however, has taken an alternative stance on the matter:

“Veejay...much as I respect your opinion...I, however, strongly feel that there are many ways to kill a cat and in a game of football, throwing a game away purposefully is one of those acts, especially if players are up to the throat about the coaches tactics, favoritism, restrictions and, of coarse, communication and man management....Muhsin is his worst enemy, in big clubs like Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns, senior players make inputs into the clubs traditional way of doing things, in patterns and strategies for the day...

"At Chiefs you have Khune and Tshabalala, before it was the likes of Jimmy Tau, your Brian Baloyi’s, Cyril Nzama’s...the list goes by season to season...if you shut them out, it also becomes difficult for them to lift the younger players and therefore confusion creeps in... Bad decision making and ultimately low morale especially if they concede more than two goals....It worked against Mourinho but there was no probe into that...so why suddenly must Pirates players be probed...they are workers and have the right to go slow, Picket and strike...just let bygones be bygones...Muhsin is gone and Pirates is nearly playing beautiful, goal oriented football again...the glimpses of cohesion are there for all to see....drawing from Highlands Park game....Amen.” – Papa-Ona

Who do you agree with? If the allegations turn out to be true, who was in the right and who was in the wrong?
