Orlando Pirates will be celebrating a milestone next year when they each their 80th anniversary in the South African football fraternity, and to add to this special occasion, the club's official kit sponsor adidas have come with a special edition jersey.
The green jersey joins the black home jersey as well as the white home kit. Since the release, the supporters have voiced their opinions on the jersey, as it was announced on the Orlando Pirates Facebook page, giving details that the jersey is similar to the 1994 kit the team wore.
One of the fans had this to say about the similarity between the jerseys:
"Comparing those guys with these bunch of overpaid losers is an insult. Those were soldiers, they went into enemy territory and conquered against all odds. This team made me remember Brendon Silent. One day after a tough charity cup game at FNB Stadium, he took off his boots, shin guards, and socks and tied them together and threw them into the crowd, with tears rolling down his cheeks." (Name has been withheld to respect this person's privacy)
It seems like the supporters are not too impressed with the current Pirates squad being compared to the class of 1994. However, could this new green kit help bring back the glory days for the Buccaneers?
What are your thoughts on the 80th anniversary kit?
