Orlando Pirates have bumped and scraped their way through another round of PSL fixtures with a 1-1 draw away at Polokwane City. A late goal from Tendai Ndoro salvaged a point for the Sea Robbers. Most analysis of the game points to complete domination by Polokwane City and a lucky escape for Pirates.
The supporters seem to agree, especially those within the Ghost Ship. It seems most are concerned about the style of play, or lack thereof, that has been witnessed while the team is undergoing a teething process under new guidance from Muhsin Ertugral.
"What is really happening at Bucs is something unprecedented since the departure of Krol. Pathetic indeed. Here are some pointers indicating that this is the worst Bucs since then. 1) In the last three matches, Bucs had lower ball possession than our opponents, something not common with Bucs' play (Bucs is mostly good at ball possession); 2) Bucs lost every second ball, Bucs could not put two or three passes together, every second or third pass was intercepted or lost; 3) the number of shots on target were far less than our opponent; 4) our midfield was dominated, something that is not common lately; 5) our strikers were isolated from the midfielders; 6) we could have been beaten by a higher margin not less than three goals if the PC strikers were lethal; Bucs suddenly play a short passing game which it is not good at all, no urgency at all." – Lefentse
"You are lucky Ndoro rescued a point for you. City should have won this one." – AyG Dakar
"This Pirates team is dead, more specially on the midfield." – Akani80
"If the team keeps playing like this, we are in shocker of a season." – the blues
While Pirates supporters may remain unimpressed with the performances, all credit must go to a fantastic showing from Polokwane City, as well as a great goal that is surely in contention for Goal of the Season already.
