There was a time when Bafana Bafana had a star-studded team, with our boys regularly featuring in massive leagues such as the EPL, the Bundesliga, and Serie A. Now, though, things seem to have changed.
One of our Get Published writers, Samora Austin, has explained why Bafana Bafana need to have more of their players playing their trade abroad.
"West African countries are doing a great job, in terms of sending their players overseas, and that's why their senior and youth national teams are strong. We have failed to send stars such as Itumeleng Khune, Teko Modise, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Oupa Manyisa and many more to Europe.
"With many young talents coming through our development structures, such as, Keagan Dolly, Phakamani Mahlambi, Kobamelo Kodisang, Lorenzo Gordinho, Emmanuel Letlotlo, Siyabonga Ngezama, Abbubaker Mobara, Riyaad Norodien, Rivaldo Coetzee, Jody February and many more, our boys should be sent to Europe as soon as possible.
"Our national team will be very strong if these boys are plying their trade in Europe, as they will be technically and tactically better. So, it is only smart for the nation to start exporting these boys."
Do you think it is wise to send our players to European clubs, or do you think that they should remain in our local leagues?
