On Monday, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela announced his captain for the season ahead, and to the surprise of many in the footballing world, not one but five players were chosen by the 49-year-old!
This caused the Amakhosi faithful to question the decision made by the coach, and why there has to be a hierarchy of players (Siphiwe Tshabalala, Itumeleng Khune, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Tsepo Masilela and Bernard Parker) to lead the team.
"Komphela is messing with our minds with his philosophies." – MalakanaD7
"How can you have five captains in a team? There should be only one captain and assistant captain. Please don't confuse us!" – Legs Mosome
"Club and team captain? This is nonsense! Steve must make this simple and remove Shabba as captain and give Khune or Katsande the armband." – Masha t
Another question raised by the Khosi Nation was of the exclusion of last season's Player of the Season Willard Katsande from the list of candidates for the skipper position.
"Katsande deserves it much more than anyone else right now. The guy lifted us up last season when all the chips were down. He remained the single pillar of hope. He was forever solid and definite. I'd say let him be the first to lead and then it can start rotating later on." – SeaGate4
What do you think of Komphela's five leaders at Chiefs?
