I have made it through my first week here at the Soccer Laduma office, and I must say, I have enjoyed every second learning from some top-class sports journalists. The environment we work in has made me feel right at home and, thankfully, I have finally memorised the names of everyone.
In this week, I have been given tasks by Mr Gareth Johnston, the man who made this internship possible for me, as well as writing for Supporters Club alongside Nikolaos. I found this particularly interesting and have had the opportunity to interact with a few supporters, who are always so charismatic and make any interview worthwhile.
On Thursday, I was approached by Gareth to do an interview for a My Soccer Laduma piece and having to contact my first soccer player was an exciting experience for me. I have finally let go of the nerves and I am comfortable with approaching players and supporters for interviews and general comments. I look forward to doing many more!
I know this opportunity only comes once in a lifetime, and I am grabbing it with both hands. This is a dream come true for any budding sports journalist. Working for one of the biggest football publications out there has definitely boosted my confidence.
As we go into the next three months that I will be here as an intern, I know I will be gaining more knowledge about football and learning about working in the corporate world. Remember to ask me questions and give comments, it will be much appreciated. Until next time, cheers!
