Once again we sit back and soak in the disheartening fact of our national team has not qualified for the AFCON 2017 tournament, but then again we ask ourselves, is that surprising?
South African’s are a football loving nation and would love to see their own country make progress in continental and international tournaments, however that is not the case. Over time the team’s results have gone from bad to worse and the call outs from the supporters for the sacking of the head coach, Shakes Mashaba has fallen on deaf ears.
With the promise made by Mashaba of building the team for the year of 2022, there seems to be no solid foundation since his inclusion at national team level, and personally speaking, there needs to be drastic changes made if we seek to leave a mark in the footballing world.
Many questions surround the decisions made by our coach who fields out-of-form players and neglects those who are performing exceptionally well, it really baffles one’s mind. And to add salt to our wounds, there are certain players who have publicly come out to say that they will not play for the national team and it all boils down to the man at the helm for their decisions.
Going forward there needs to be changes made, and this has to happen as soon as possible, or else we will be singing the same sad old song for years to come!
Who do you think should be the head coach of Bafana Bafana?
