As reported by the Siya crew, Mamelodi Sundowns' Thabo Nthethe could soon be on his way out of Chloorkop. The defender's five-year contract with the Yellow Nation ends next month, and a move to Chippa United seems imminent.
The 33-year old saw himself get minimal game time during the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season. Seemingly out coach Pitso Mosimane's future plans, Nthethe's move to the Chilli Boys could just be what the experienced player needs to redeem himself.
Supporters Club member and Mamelodi Sundowns fan Shawn has reacted to the news, and has a special message for "Mr. Cool".
"I am sad that Nthethe is leaving Sundowns, he is an experienced and a special player," he said
"I would have loved to see Mr Cool play our final league game against Bloemfontein Celtic the day we lifted our trophy. Seeing him play in front of his home crowd would have been very special to him. He needed it, and it was important and I feel like Pitso could have made an exception. Nthethe deserved to be honoured during our game against Siwelele.
"What an exceptional leader, on and off the field, and we will surely miss him. We will miss his experience, he has been truly magnificent for the team of Sundowns. I would have loved for him to remain at Downs. I feel like the young players could learn a lot from him. I still maintain that he should have been given a decent send-off against Celtic. More especially that we had nothing to play for anymore as a team.
"I wish him all the best. Chippa must be popping bottles because they are very fortunate to have a player of Nthethe's calibre joining their side. I have no doubt that, with his experience, Nthethe will take the Chilli Boys to greater heights. All the best Mr. Cool, we know you will do well in the Port Elizabeth-based side. We will miss you."
Do you think Nthethe will be a big loss for Masandawana if he leaves them?
