The giant-slayers keep moving onwards and upwards as they ascend to the crest of the NFD and demolish all in their path. Baroka FC now need just three points from their next two games to confirm their status as champions. They are a well-supported team who carry with the pride of Limpopo. The supporters are excited to see their club hopefully climb into the PSL, but will the bold young warriors of Limpopo be the heartbreakers of next season?
The team has had a stellar campaign, including a vibrant Nedbank Cup run that has seen them defeat only PSL sides on their way to the semi-final. Whether that fairytale ends there or not, only time will tell. Nonetheless, the supporters are proud to have a new fighter in the ring, and Limpopo is certainly smiling.
"Good for Limpopo… Black Leopards must do the same, we need Limpopo teams in the PSL." – vongenimalamulele
"Proudly Limpopian." – Lesmaan
"Baroka is ready to play in the PSL." – satness
Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, a different story can be told. KwaZulu-Natal, another proud footballing region, is in decline. Maritzburg United, despite playing entertaining football and filling their stadium regularly, seem destined for the drop as they have struggled to lift a toe off the foot of the log.
AmaZulu's prospects of promotion look no brighter as, despite acquiring the services of Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas, they remain stuck in ninth position in the NFD.
"Limpopo, their province is on fire while we see decline in KZN." – Kgotso kg atla
Do you see a different style of football being played by KZN teams compared to Limpopo teams? Do you think this could be the start of the Limpopo takeover?
