It was night of utter heartbreak for the Yellow Nation, and South Africa as a whole, as Mamelodi Sundowns won the battle against AS Vita but lost the war against the aggregate. Wednesday night's game presented one of Downs' final chances of the season to grab top continental honors. However, that is life, and life goes on.
This was the sentiment of Sundowns superfan Mzekezeke.
"Yesterday was just not our day," he said.
"That's football, sometimes the supporters are happy people, sometimes they are not.
"As supporters, you can always expect three things: win, lose, or draw.
"But it is water under the bridge. We now shift our focus to Pirates on the weekend for Nedbank Cup, and the Confederation Cup."
Mzekezeke assures us that the outcome of Wednesday's encounter is merely "water under the bridge". There are bigger and brighter things ahead for the Brazilians.
Football is a strange thing; no matter how much you control it, it can turn against you. Sundowns won the match fair and square but lost out on a technicality. Sometimes it's all down to luck – the ball can hit the post and go out just as easily as it can hit the post and go in. That's football… That's life.
What is your message for Sundowns after Wednesday night's game?
