Kaizer Chiefs will have a new commander to lead them into war next season – national hero Itumeleng Khune been named as the team's latest captain.
The news was largely uncontroversial and received with much warmth by the Khosi Nation, who see this as a step in the right direction and Khune as just the man to take the team to new heights.
"Thank you, Kaizer Chiefs, Khune is our rightful captain. I believe he will lead us to glory." – mthunzi123
"Congrats Khune, you have good leader qualities and you are an inspiration to the young boys. Let the haters hate, and I wish you good things for the new season. #Khosi namanje." – listolidz
However, there are still those who smell a conspiracy and think Khune's captaincy may have something to do with his wondrous Olympic performance, or with the future playing position of previous skipper Siphiwe Tshabalala.
"The timing isn't good, though... Khune is good leader but I assume they're trying to hold on to him because he had a good run at the Olympics." – studu_khosificated_child
"At least we know Shabba will warm the bench. #king4captain." – Pshappy
"Glory days are coming back. I love Shabba but he is not a leader, a lot of experience but not a leader. Good move, at least you did one thing right that will benefit a team." – Thabangmofokeng
Do you think Khune is the man to lead Chiefs? What about Katsande?
