In last week's edition of the Soccer Laduma newspaper, we brought out a centre spread regarding the wishes of Amakhosi supporters. Another supporter called us shortly afterwards to let us know that we were well off with the piece...
His name is Lefuno Mulaudzi and he took particular exception to the fact that the supporters said that coach Steve Komphela should be given time... These are his thoughts:
"Mr Kaizer Motaung's insinuation that supporters need to be patient with them is very disrespectful to the Chiefs supporters. He further said getting rid of Komphela will seem like they don't know what they are doing," he said.
"This is a clear indication that he does not care about the supporters because Komphela has been given the whole year to prove himself and he failed dismally. Motaung's claims that the team is getting older do not hold water and this argument is baseless.
"Chiefs have a younger team compared to Sundowns and Pirates in terms of age. Yeye Letsholonyane is the oldest KC player at 34, so the team cannot be that old. Comparing KC supporters with Man U supporters was also out.
"Man U supporters or any other team in Europe fill their stadiums to full capacity even when they are losing. However, they still make their wishes known to the management that they want a coach gone at the stadiums.
"Man U supporters forced David Moyes to leave after a season at Old Trafford. The reason was that the supporters are used to Man U winning trophies every season. Second best was not an option for a massive team like Man U. Komphela, like Moyes, has a reputation of not winning trophies in his yo-yo coaching career.
"Just like Moyes replacing Alex Ferguson at Man U, Komphela replacing a successful coach such as Baxter was always going to be a problem."
What do you think of this side of the argument? Should Komphela be given more time, or has the whole ordeal been a disaster?
