Kannemeyer: It's Sad To See A Big Team Like Chiefs Being Unsuccessful

David Kannemeyer is in the building, and is answering your questions! Today, he discusses the most difficult opponents he had to face, his funniest teammate at Kaizer Chiefs, and his first game for Mamelodi Sundowns against Chiefs.

Who was the funniest guy in the Kaizer Chiefs dressing room? – Hlasela_Khosi

David Kannemeyer: That would have to be Jabu Mahlangu! He was hilarious. Every morning, before training, he would sit and make jokes, and that lightened the mood in camp as well. We all enjoyed having him around us.

Have you ever had that one player who gave you nightmares just thinking of facing them? – LuckyBoya

DK: I think that every player that I came up against was going to be a challenge for me because, on game day, you don't know what to expect from them. But I had my ways of dealing with my opponents, and I did my job.

What was it like when you joined Mamelodi Sundowns, and your first fixture was against Kaizer Chiefs; what was the mood like for you facing your ex-teammates? – Jeff-Bale11

DK: Firstly, it was exciting, but then again I was playing against my ex-club and that can put pressure on a player. I was very nervous in the beginning but after about 15 minutes, I started to enjoy the game.

Where did you enjoy your career the most? – Vonganithereturn

DK: I would say at SuperSport United as it was the last team that I played for and there were many players there who were from Cape Town, which actually made me feel like I was back home.

What is your take on the new Kaizer Chiefs signings, and the two games against Pirates and Baroka? Do you think Chiefs have what it takes to bring back the glory days after an unsuccessful season last year? – Nyoninyoni

DK: It is difficult to say now how the team will do this season because if you had to look at the other PSL teams and take their signings into consideration, it puts Chiefs in a bit of a difficult situation. It is sad to see a big team like Chiefs have such an unsuccessful season, but I do hope that it all changes soon and that positive results will come in. It is going to be an interesting season and I would not want to even predict who might win the league title.

Stay tuned for the rest of Kannemeyer's answers to your questions!
