Kaizer Chiefs are currently preparing for the upcoming season, and have been involved in a number of pre-season tournaments, showing some positive signs.
One player who has held Steve Komphela's side together is Siphiwe Tshabalala. "Shabba" has been a darling in the Glamour Boys' set-up, but with age slowly creeping up on him, will there be another player to fill the void left by the 32-year-old once he is gone?
One supporter shared his views on Shabba, and suggested that Hendrick "Pule" Ekstein could be the perfect replacement.
"Taking nothing away from 'Shabba' as we all know that he's a good player after carrying Amakhosi on his shoulders ever since joining the team in 2007, when he arrived from Free State Stars. However, one can definitely see that now is the right time for Tshabalala to make way for the young, sensational Pule Ekstein to continue with the baton.
"The ball is in Steve Komphela's court right now, as to whether he continues playing Tshabalala in that role or put in Ekstein as the main man in the Amakhosi team. The former Bafana captain will have to make bold decisions, same like how Pep Guardiola did at Barcelona, chasing Ronaldinho away in order to accommodate the young Lionel Messi, who went on to become a world superstar. – 790220
Do you think Komphela should be fielding younger development players?
