As we all sit back and wait to see off the encounter between Bafana Bafana and Senegal as they battle out for a spot in the 2018 World Cup at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, some of our local clubs will be thanking the football gods as this international break could not come at a better time.
Pitso Mosimane and his Mamelodi Sundowns side have had a rather busy affair since the end of last season. Their off season was occupied with encounters in the CAF Champions League followed by the start of the 2016/17 league campaign and then the MTN8 Wafa Wafa challenge which saw the team reach the final of the competition, however they lost out to Bidvest Wits and were then knocked out in the Telkom Knockout challenge. That could be a sign of fatigue crippling in and to their rescue, the international break has come, but on the other side a number of their key players have been included in the Bafana set-up.
This could also have a hampering effect on the Sundowns team who are looking to rejuvenate but with the likes of Tiyani Mabunda, Asavela Mbekile, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Keagan Dolly and Hlompho Kekana away on international duty, there will be a mountain to climb for Downs.
There will be other teams in the PSL who will be using this break to brush up on of the mistakes that have been committed in the past few months. The likes of Orlando Pirates, who have recently changed their technical team once again, will be looking to build a solid foundation once again, as well as Kaizer Chiefs who are not in their best of forms, will want to get their engines fired up.
Do you think that the international break will be a blessing for some of the PSL clubs?
