Fans Force Their Way Into Cape Town Stadium – How Is This Still Happening?
Default

On Saturday, Cape Town Stadium played host to Kaizer Chiefs for a match that pulled in a capacity crowd by the time the game kicked off, but during the second half, hundreds forced their way into the stadium in order to witness Amakhosi’s drubbing of City. How is this still happening and what's the point of being a good fan who buys tickets nowadays if anyone can get into a stadium?

The Glamour Boys claimed a 4-1 win over Benni McCarthy's side, with a brace from Khama Billiat and goals from Siyabonga Ngezana and Philani Zulu meaning that coach Giovanni Solinas oversaw his first win in the Absa Premiership since being appointed the Naturena club's coach.

Away from the field, the atmosphere at the stadium was electric and every fan in the ground could be found singing and dancing as they cheered their side on. However, at one stage in the game, during the second half, hundreds of fans could be seen streaming into the stadium after forcing their way into the ground.

Check it out!

This was just another incident on the back of several in Mzansi, where fans have forced their way into stadiums despite not having bought any tickets. It's these types of incidents that result in stampedes, injuries and deaths, and while no one was reportedly hurt on this occasion, it ruins the game for others.

For those legitimate fans who spend their hard-earned cash to see their beloved team in action and go to the stadium to enjoy a great game of football, these hooligans who stormed their way into the stadium are putting good fans in danger.

More and more people are gaining access to stadiums via forced entry, and it's becoming increasingly frustrating for the fans who have good intensions to go to the stadium. And the more people get away with such behaviour, the higher the number of chance takers will increase.

The PSL recently formed a partnership with the SAPS, yet an incident such as the one in the video above still takes place. Are the police not meant to be there to stop the possibility of fans storming into the stadium?

To the fans, let us know your thoughts on this… Do you spend your hard-earned cash to attend matches? If so, how do you feel about these guys pushing their way in for free?

Why that is not happening in FNB, Mabhida, East London and other stadia. The DA capital is only after "people" especially "soccer loving people".

Ta kwado said. He bought two tickets at Shoprite him n his son but when they arrived at the gate they were told tickets are fake. So if you can get fake tickets at Shoprite it means all tickets are fake therefore let everyone enter the studiam

It is unfortunate and not fair to those who bought tickets. This is why the partnership with SAPS is necessary
