Orlando Pirates will take on Lamontville Golden Arrows this weekend, and Supporters Club caught up with someone who had an inspiring message regarding Siyabonga "Ntsimbi" Sangweni, the way South Africans should play football, Golden Arrows, and Orlando Pirates.
"We are sad, one of our soldiers has put away his rifle and hung up his boots."
This is what KwaZulu-Natal -based Orlando Pirates fan Zoro had to say about Sangweni following his recent retirement from professional football.
"For this weekend's game, all I ask is that both Pirates and Arrows play with the spirit of Ntsimbi. You know what that means? That means no-nonsense, powerful, hard-working, no-excuse football," he added.
"South Africa can learn something from Ntsimbi, that is how you play football like a man."
Sangweni enjoyed a long and fruitful career as an impenetrable defender, and also proved that he had a venomous strike on him. He made 128 appearances for Golden Arrows and took to the field 106 times for Orlando Pirates. He also featured close to 30 times for Bafana Bafana, and even scored four goals for the flag.
What is your prediction for the game this weekend? What do you think it means to play football with the spirit of Ntsimbi?
