Kaizer Chiefs are playing Cape Town City tonight, and they look a little bit thin at the back following Erick Mathoho's suspension and injuries to Tsepo Masilela, Sbusiso Khumalo, Rama Mphahlele and Teenage Hadebe.
Komphela has discussed the club's injury problems going into the clash against City, saying he needs other players to step up.
"Any time you lose a squad member, it gives other players an opportunity to show their mettle. We will run lean and mean in defence, but luckily enough we have players capable to switch positions and change the formation when necessary," Komphela was quoted as saying.
Here's what some supporters said in response:
"Injuries will always be there and they are not the only team with injuries, so it's about how you prepare your team. If Chiefs were buying and not signing free agents, this wouldn't have been a worry nor talking point for the coach as an excuse." – mkho ndlovu
"Mr Komphela, I want to give you free advice: just make sure you wear a bulletproof vest and helmet tonight. I don't trust Chiefs fans, they're gunning for your head." – Scoreman
"Bra Steve, don't try to make excuses, if you were talking about Masilela and Rama since they are regulars. Those others you mentioned are not playing, so the team can do better without Mathoho, Tshepo, Rama and Itu. All players at any club must deliver as expected from them." – email@example.com
"Whether we win or lose, Chiefs are too deep in the woods." – SeaGate4
"I can't believe how much Bobby and Steve have destroyed Chiefs. We have too many below-average players and we've had the worst (the Ndululas of the PSL). Never again should Chiefs prioritise free agents..." – SeaGate4
"Only three of the mentioned players are regulars so you don't have an excuse." – EagleEye
Do you think Chiefs will cope without their three regulars at the back?
