Chiefs Supporter: 'It's Too Early To Put Solinas Under Pressure, Give Him Time'

Following their impressive performance against Mamelodi Sundowns in the first game of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season, Kaizer Chiefs supporters had hope that perhaps their players will carry the same team spirit and performance into their game against Bidvest Wits on Tuesday evening at FNB Stadium.

However, things didn't go according to the Amakhosi faithful's wishes as the Glamour Boys were totally outclassed by the Clever Boys, who defeated them 3-1. The match outcome appeared to have left a bitter taste in most Chiefs supporters' mouths.

Some Amakhosi supporters, however, have jumped to the defence of the club's head coach Giovanni Solinas, stating that no blame should be thrown at the Italian just yet.

Supporters Club caught up with Khosi fan Sylvester Nkosi to try and understand the outrage of fellow fans who are calling for changes with some of the senior players at the club.

"Honestly, I can't say I know what went wrong because those were the very same players, same starting line-up that played against Sundowns," he said.

"Yes, we might have had few defensive issues but those are very small errors which can be rectified and can't solely be blamed for the disaster against Wits on Tuesday.

"Firstly, Khune was out of his line, he had a very good chance of saving Deon Hotto's strike but he was slightly out of his line. With the second goal, Mathoho was there, he should have cleared the ball for Khune. I really don’t know what happened in that game.

"However, I refuse to put the blame on Solinas. It's too early to put him under pressure. Solinas' arrival at Naturena was based on the mere fact that he was the only option Chiefs were left with, and we were under pressure to bring in a coach as the pre-season had already commenced.

"He found Chiefs already in the middle of pre-season and just a week after he arrived, we were playing Sundowns in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup. We need to give him a chance because putting the blame on him at this stage would be very unfair."

What are your thoughts on the views of this Khosi supporter?

Coach, please do not include Paez, Matoho, Parker in your starting 11 tomorrow. Cardoso & Katsande should switch on their bright lights, Baroka likes counterattack and are deadly in set pieces. No draw but a must win. Mahlsela should be given a good run
