Kaizer Chiefs began the 2016/17 season under fire, with supporters calling for head coach Steve Komphela to be sacked. However, their stint in the second half of the campaign has the team in contention for the league title.
There was one supporter who spoke out about Chiefs' improvement, but also suggested that Amakhosi will have a trophyless season.
"Kaizer Chiefs' form has improved in the second half of this season and they have gained some consistency. SuperSport United seem to have lost the form that made them go 19 games undefeated and are struggling of late. The only teams I see winning the league title are Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City or Bidvest Wits. These are the only teams in the top five that have the best chance of being crowned champions. So Kaizer Chiefs fans should brace themselves for another trophyless season (I am one of them). Gavin Hunt and his troops have been knocked out of both CAF competitions and the Nedbank Cup so they won't have a busy schedule, and the same with Cape Town City. Sundowns are still in CAF competitions so they could lose out on the league title." – Kevin Ngwadla47
