Amakhosi Can Develop Their Own Stars!

Kaizer Chiefs' youth development programme is currently a work in progress, but there seems to be great signs of things to come for the future. The likes of Jabu Mahlangu, Itumeleng Khune, Nhlanhla Kubheka, Thabo Mooki and Gerald Sibeko, just to name a few, all graduated from the club's youth ranks.

Today, players such as Emmanuel Letlotlo, Hendrick Ekstein, Lorenzo Gordinho, Lucky Baloyi, Siyabonga Ngezana and, most recently, Wiseman Meyiwa have been brought in from the development structures and are proving to be assets to the first team.

One supporter expressed his views and mentioned that Chiefs could benefit from developing their own stars.

"The reported promotion of SA U20 prodigy, Meyiwa, augurs well for other youngsters such as Yusuf Bantam, Itumeleng Shopane and the sensational Nhlakanipho Ngcobo, who is tipped to be the next Doctor Khumalo. The last time a Chiefs team consisted of development stars such as Jabu Pule (Mahlangu) and Brian Baloyi, it went all the way to conquer Africa and won everything domestically in the famous 'operation-vat-alles'.

"Amakhosi fans will be happy that the conveyor belt is producing on a regular basis and soon the team won't have to worry about ridiculous transfer market prices on players." – mzwazwazwa

What are your thoughts on the players who have recently come out of Amakhosi's development structures?

You know chiefs development is week when they can't even have 3 to 4 players in our jnr national teams. The likes of wits, Supersports and Ajax have about 5 to 6 players in our jnr national teams which shows they have better development than chiefs. Then end of the season we want to see more players being promoted but can't even make it to our jnr national teams. The likes of Khune played for SA u23 before being promoted to Chiefs senior team, while our youth players are failing to make a cut in our youth national team. Truth are Chiefs development has been poor.only good thing that came out of it in the past 10 years is Khune.

Used to develop good players not anymore. A lot has changed since then, different technical team with different scouts. It's not like chiefs hasn't been promoting players, they have but they not quality. Where are the likes of Cele. Chiefs used to promote players that would go straight in the starting 11, the likes of Jabu, khune, khanyes. But now they promote players that can't make a bench in teams like Chippa.

Where is Ekstien, Letlotlo n Ngezana? SK should long have phased in these boys instead of relying on those senior players who've got nothing more to offer.

Youth or no youth Chiefs is in I.C.U. It puzzles me how Chiefs management allow Chiefs brand to colapse like this.Management needs to react urgently now to compliment promoted youth with quality quality playmaker, two quality strikers and two experienced centre backs. The defence relies too much on Gordino and Mathoho,if one of them is unavailable we struggle, also in midfield Baloyi and Chirambadare are letting us down.If management doesn't act now we will talk of Kaizer Chiefs that has been.

except for the fact they most recently, the promoted players are not played and its also a matter of time before Letlotlo is loaned out, yes our development has talent but i feel like they are not given enough chance...

It can be done the management needs to calm down the supporters when results are not going their way....the standard in MDC is good platform to groom future stars....MDC players should be loaned to other teams to gain play time and expierance
