With South Africa not having goal-line technology, it has been a question on many supporters’ minds after countless incidents where their beloved clubs have lost encounters due to their goals being overlooked or not being awarded. However, the reasoning behind the lack of the technology system is due to the costs it would take to bring it to our shores.
This was one supporters view on the situation:
"As football fans, we just want them to forget there is a budget for all of those things. If it's expensive and the PSL can't afford ít, then they don't have to force it but there is always things to improve in our soccer. Whoever is training PSL match officials, he/she needs to do more, these people are killing the game, especially officials on the lines, they seem not to know the offside rule. In football, as a touch line official, if you are not sure of an offside, first rule is you give the attacking team the benefit of the doubt, you don't just raise the flag for nothing. As for goal-line technology, it will be better if we use video refs." – dankiesan82
