On Thursday, the U23 South African squad that will travel to the Rio Olympics in August was announced. An exciting and versatile team has been selected, and the supporters have staked their claim to stand firm behind the boys in the face of a very tough challenge.
Most supporters have greeted the squad announcement warmly, and stated their unwavering support for the boys,
"Go, go, go, Glug-Glug! And kill Neymar." – mlindelimchunu
"I am very happy with this team." – Mentashe
Aside from the support afforded to the team, it seems many also have some questions surrounding the players who did not make it, particularly the one vacant post for a senior, overaged player. Most wanted to see Andile Jali in the ranks.
"Jali should be there since Zungu is injured, but I am behind them all the way." – Ntuthuko 5110
"My worry is that, here in South Africa, we don't have match winners, but I believe Dolly can win games for us. Khune and Mathoho are good players and can add much-needed experience, but I feel Jali was needed there. Lastly, I hope Shakes Mashaba will not travel with these boys. We don't need him there." – ta-kanu
What is your message for the boys?
