We have recently seen players changing allegiances and shirts at an alarming rate, and one of our supporters has stated that the transfer window means less than what we may think.
The reasoning is simple: signings are essentially just forecasts. We can see a cloud coming over the mountain and predict that it will bring rain, only to learn that by the time it passes overhead it has lost its power – or something to that effect.
"For me, new signings don't mean anything. Their performances will determine whether they are good or not. Because, in most cases, you find a player doing well but once he gets signed by another team his performance drops." – Edward Moropa
The point this supporter is raising is that a player can shine at one club, causing fans of another club to beg their chairman for that player's signature, only to find that the popcorn doesn't pop at a higher altitude.
Good examples include players such Levy Mokgothu, Bongani Ndulula, and Rheece Evans, among many others who shine at smaller clubs but wilt at bigger clubs.
Do you see this happening with any of the transfers that have happened in this window?
