It was a weekend of contrasting fortunes for PSL log leaders Kaizer Chiefs. The Glamour Boys swept Mamelodi Sundowns aside convincingly in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday.
However, they failed to replicate this when they fell to Bloemfontein Celtic in the Macufe Cup the very next day.
As a result, fans have questioned the commitment and contribution of their fringe players.
Chiefs fielded a side made up mostly of players who do not feature regularly for Ernst Middendorp’s side when they came up against Siwelele.
It was an opportunity for the likes of Siphelele Ntshangase, Kabelo Mahlasela and new addition James Kotei to stake a claim for game time. The game also saw the introduction of youngsters Keletso Sifama and Sizwe Twala.
However, it was a lacklustre display from the Glamour Boys and a faction of fans have provided their verdict on the performance

“Now I understand why Ntshangase is not playing, Chiefs should loan him out in the next transfer window. As for Kotei, I personally didn't see anything memorable about his play, Mahlasela and Rama can leave now they not offering much anyway.”
SL Supporter: Like it or not
“I don't think James Kotei is Chiefs material, he could not even defend one ball.”
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for some though, who took an optimistic approach to the match, despite the result. They also highlighted the fact that the Soweto giants and breeding fresh new talent.

“An improved performance by Ntshangase, much better, there's hope. I don't know what Mahlasela brings to the team that we don't already have, but I think he has nothing more, it can help his career if he moves to another club, he's good but Chiefs is much much bigger than him.”
SL Supporter: I_AM_SMITH
“According to what I saw, Sifama is hungry and with enough game time he can be deadly. Twala needs more time in the MDC team I am not yet sure about him...”
