There is some welcome news for Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their Telkom Knockout clash: Erick "Tower" Mathoho is back in action for the Glamour Boys. This has got many of the supporters talking – just how much of an asset to the club is he?
Many supporters were elated to see Tower's return to action, although some have said that Cardoso has done a good job in his absence, and that the competition present in Amakhosi's backline is promising.
"Welcome back, Tower." – Mentashe
"I was happy to see Cardoso playing very well in Mathoho's absence. This is a sign that Chiefs are finally getting their backline in order. Now we need to bang them goals up." – Khosi63
"Welcome back Tower, Steve is gonna have a headache in selecting his backline." – shares_sheleni
Others think Chiefs rely too heavily on Mathoho, and that his inclusion in the national team is not necessarily deserved.
"Chiefs are Mathoho FC. They put all their trust in him. I can't wait for quarter-finals of Chiefs vs Sundowns. Downs will show you that your Mathoho FC is weak." – The yellow Tsetsefly
"This one (Mathoho) is the cow straight, kicking the ball whatever direction he is facing, conceding a lot of penalties and breaking himself in the process. I have never seen such a useless defender, but then he is always in our national team just because he is playing for Kaizer Chiefs. That's SA football for you. Rama was not good enough when he was playing for Dunu, now he is regular in BB. We are not going anywhere with this nonsense . We have good players in this country. For two years now, two SA giants made it to CCL final and that shows you we have the players; they are not selected for whatever reasons. Nxaaa." – pathology
Is Mathoho still an asset? Do Chiefs rely too heavily on him? Is he the man for Bafana Bafana?
