What a difference a few months makes… From losing to Golden Arrows and Jomo Cosmos to punishing them 4-1 and 5-0 respectively, and now the Buccaneers find themselves in the Nedbank Cup semi-final with a real prospect of silverware. South Africa can hardly believe it... can the supporters?
The miraculous turnaround in form is now beginning to show in some integral results. Beating Mamelodi Sundowns this season is no small feat, and coming from 12th on the log to sixth is no less marvelous.
So we asked Pirates supporter Lindisipho Xubuzana what he and his branch attribute the turnaround in form to.
"The change has now come about in strikers. Gabuza was tired and needed to rest. Ndoro is hungry," he said.
So if Gabuza dropped in form because he was tired, does that not imply that he was being played too often? And, if so, does the same threat not apply to Ndoro? Are Pirates one injured Zimbabwean away from slipping back into the dark times?
"Eish, my bro, that's exactly what I said to my branch," he added.
"It's the same as Luvuyo Memela… They always in the squad.
"They should really think of giving Ndoro a one-match break."
Is Pirates' recent turnaround in form based around the performance of Ndoro? Would the team still be fine without him?
