What an exciting weekend that has just passed. The Telkom Knockout showed the potential of South African football to entertain. Amongst the biggest talking points was the form of Orlando Pirates, as they recovered from a mid-week drubbing to advance to the Semi-Finals.
Orlando Pirates showed a vast improvement in form over the weekend to defeat Highlands Park 2-1. Unfortunately for Pirates, fresh off their record breaking 6-1 defeat to SuperSport United, they will meet Matsatsantsa again in the semifinals of the TKO.
Supporters Club caught up with Pirates supporter Gio De Waal to find out the mood of the Ghost Ship ahead of the game.
“Eish. SSU, again? We have barely recovered, the wounds are still fresh. I cant believe the soccer god’s have done this to us, at least give us Cape Town City or something.
“I think they must have done the thing with the different sized balls in the draw or something (laughs) no I’m joking, but that is seriously cruel that we are playing them again so soon.
“But I was happy with us against Highlands Park, I think the change in technical staff has maybe put a breath of fresh air into the team because I like what I saw.
“However I’m still worried, SSU has slaughtered us twice now. First in the Nedbank Cup final, then in the league and now in the TKO. Cover your buttocks, SSU is coming.”
Do you think Pirates can mentally overcome their 6-1 loss to Matsatsantsa?
