The Amakhosi supporters are delighted their management has begun to take steps to rectify a horrifying season. Many supporters were critical of the Glamour Boys for collecting too many players over the past few seasons who were not contributing to the team. Now the management has acted, the supporters are beginning to worry whether the right players were released…
One of our online supporters, Bkekana, spotted an inherent flaw in the logic of releasing 20 non-playing players to fix a non-performing team:
"I am a Kaizer Chiefs supporter but let's face the fact, their confusion of this season has affected their minds towards decision-making... they released too many players in a short time but the coach remained, and my question is: if the mistakes of losing or drawing is not made by the coach but players...why did they fire even those whom did not have a game time?"
This is a good point, and it seems the supporters concerns are that the releasing of 20 players may not fix the problem. Furthermore, it remains to be seen which players will be signed and how they will be used.
The worry seems to be that 20 non-participating players will be replaced by 20 different non-participating players.
Do you see coach Komphela replacing the likes of Shabba and Itu with newcomers? If not, how much will the team change with the arrival of 20 new players?
