This weekend saw much football action, and with a lot of football comes a lot of heartache and a lot of joy. Especially in a cup game, there can only be one winner. Kaizer Chiefs were on the losing side was this weekend as they narrowly missed out in a penalty shootout with Free State Stars. What do the supporters think?
Many supporters are on the fence regarding the state of Kaizer Chiefs, particularly given their current log standing. However, three consecutive 0-0 draws followed by a cup loss to Ea Lla Koto has prompted one supporter to write the following:
“Chiefs are a shadow of their former selves. This club stature has been deteriorating over the years at a faster rate than realised and acknowledged. Honest people from Chiefs can attest to that, but unfortunately multitudes of their fan base are either naive and/or in denial. Denialism is a dangerous defence mechanism which has the power to destroy even the "invincible". It's high time they call for an indaba with the Motaung family to discuss their plans for the future. Their management is intransigent to the realities of modern-day football and the dynamics involved. Someone needs to awaken them from their deep slumber, instead of spending their time and energy supporting foreign teams playing against fellow South African teams. For instance, there's no hope or visible chance of them ever winning the African Champions League, but they continue fooling themselves into believing the myth that they are the biggest and most successful team in the country!” - mapaito
