It was beautiful to see the freedom Mamelodi Sundowns played with this past weekend in their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Ghanaian outfit Medeama SC. The victory in itself was a marvel, and showed great courage as the Brazilians to come back from a goal down to win 3-1. But one of the main talking points was that goal from Khama Billiat.
The Mamelodi Sundowns firing squad have slotted home some absolute screamers this year. Lest we forget Hlompho Kekana's thunderous scorcher for Bafana Bafana against Cameroon, Leonardo Castro's delicate volley/lob against Polokwane City or Billiat's most recent stunner in the CCC.
We spoke to one of the oldest Sundowns fans under the moon, Bishop, to find out which Masandawana strike he thought was the best.
"That Billiat goal was brilliant. It took everyone by surprise. The keepers, the officials, everyone thought it was out," he said.
"But Kekana's goal, that was still the greatest."
It is a bit difficult to beat a goal that was fired in from behind the halfway line. However, one thing is clear, Pitso Mosimane's men clearly have the confidence to try outrageously impossible strikes… And when it works, it's glorious.
Some supporters even doubt whether Billiat intended the strike he hit; however, that is in no way disrespectful to the player. His shot was just so marvelous that it is difficult to believe it wasn't a dream watching it.
Bishop also took time to explain to Supporters Club that the poor attendance at Atteridgeville on the weekend was down to supporters waiting forr the final game of the season to attend properly, and also due to a mix-up in times.
Which do you think was the best goal scored by a Sundowns player this campaign?
